Its the time from the beginning of the game to the end of Final Zone in real time IIRC

The total time for Sonic speedruns is always counted by the in-game timer, and not the real time taken.

The only time that real time adds to the overall time in Sonic speedruns is on ones like Sonic Adventure (DX), due to the adventure fields.

Congrats on beating mike's run (could you tell us the total time of all levels? and yes, you have to beat his time adding up in game levels, which if i read correctly you think you did). Is it done on emulator or on console? Hopefully it is done on console so you can submit it.

I'm not really up on the speedrun rules, so i'll explain what i've done.

It's all non tool assisted, but i did do it on an emulator. I don't really care about braking any records to be honest, i just made the vid as my tribute to a game which was my childhood, haha.

I played all the levels individually, and then eddited them together, each level is played non tool assisted, but it is not one run right through the game, which i should have mentioned befor proclaiming that i've beaten someone's time. Sorry i didn't really explain too well.

The total sum of all the acts is ... 16:29, but again, i didn't play them all in one go. So apologise to mike and his run, which i'm looking forward to watching. I really couldn't be botherd with a full run. lol.

May not be 'offical' but i hope it'll be a good watch. :)

For a segmented run, just adding up the 19 level times, you can observe TSC charts for rankings: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_1/times/total/sonic

As far as a segmented time, you lose out to Mike by a whopping...1 second.

TSC doesn't allow anything tool-assisted. As a result, none of them are tool-assisted.

I've been trying on and off to record 24. A new trick found by Upthorn saving about 1/10 of a second got me started again, my best attempt came in at 25 seconds and one measly frame.

But I will get it eventually! I promise!

I wasn't. Just a casual playthrough. I was only half going for it (i.e. i used the right route but wasn't restarting a million times), and just happened to get it.
